Sowena Group are exclusively partnered with a growing PE backed manufacturing business in their search for a Head of Pricing to take ownership of pricing strategy, margin performance and the development of the pricing function.
This is a key leadership role within an ambitious business, offering the opportunity to shape pricing strategy, drive profitable growth and influence commercial decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with senior leadership, Finance, Sales, Operations and Procurement, you’ll ensure that pricing, supplier costs and customer contracts work together to maximise profitability while remaining commercially competitive.
You’ll lead and develop a small pricing team, overseeing everything from pricing strategy and margin targets through to customer deals, renewals, supplier pricing and reporting. With a focus on improving systems, governance and analytical capability, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening pricing processes and supporting the wider commercial strategy.
About the Role
- Own and develop the pricing strategy, setting margin targets and pricing objectives in line with business plans and commercial priorities.
- Take responsibility for pricing performance and the pricing budget, ensuring decisions support sustainable growth and profitability.
- Lead annual and periodic price increase programmes, including cost pass-through, customer communications and tracking performance against targets.
- Establish and maintain discount policies, deal approval limits and pricing controls, approving non-standard quotes, contracts and renewals where required.
- Oversee customer-specific pricing across new business, tenders, existing contracts and renewals, ensuring deals meet agreed margin expectations.
- Work closely with Sales and Account Management to balance competitive positioning, customer retention and profitable growth.
- Oversee supplier and procurement pricing, ensuring buy-in costs, list prices and customer deals are aligned to maximise overall margin.
- Monitor margin performance, price realisation, discount levels, contract run rate against annual contract value (ACV) and procurement savings.
- Produce accurate monthly pricing and margin reports for senior leadership, highlighting performance, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Use commercial and market data to identify pricing opportunities, understand competitor positioning and support better decision-making.
- Lead, manage and develop the pricing team, setting objectives, monitoring performance and supporting individual development.
- Ensure effective coordination across pricing responsibilities, resolving conflicts between supplier costs, list pricing, customer deals and margin expectations.
- Own pricing processes, governance and documentation, ensuring consistent ways of working and reducing reliance on individual knowledge.
- Lead improvements to pricing tools, systems, data quality, reporting and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as the senior point of contact for pricing across Sales, Operations, Finance, Procurement and key customers or suppliers.
