Sowena Group has been exclusively retained by a high-growth, pre-private equity–backed £5m+ EBITDA multi-site services business in Greater Manchester to appoint a new CFO. This is the company’s first C-suite appointment and a critical hire in building the leadership, structure, and capability required to continue to scale.
This is a broad, commercially and operationally focused CFO role, where you will act as a true partner to the CEO, helping to professionalise a founder-led organisation, embed scalable systems and governance, and drive value creation in a private-equity environment.
The Role
As CFO, you will sit at the heart of the business, combining strategic finance leadership with operational oversight. You’ll help guide the transition from a fast-moving scale-up into a structured, multi-site organisation, while preserving the pace, ambition, and culture that has driven success so far.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO on growth, performance, and investment readiness
- Help shape and execute the long-term growth strategy, including organic expansion, greenfield sites, and acquisitions
- Drive private-equity readiness, including governance, reporting, and investor engagement
- Drive EBITDA growth through insight, challenge, and operational leverage
- Build clear KPIs and insight across finance, operations, sales, and marketing to ensure leadership has clear, actionable information to support rapid decision-making
- Centralise and scale core functions and integrate new sites, systems, and processes
About You
- Proven experience as a CFO or Finance Director in a high-growth, multi-site business, scaling operations both organically and via acquisition
- Experience leading a business through major step-changes in scale, complexity, and professionalisation
- Experience operating in a private-equity-backed or PE-facing environment
- Operationally minded, and comfortable being hands-on when necessary
- Commercial, pragmatic, and highly execution-focused
- Willing to travel across the UK where required to support site growth and integration
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a profitable business at a pivotal point in its growth journey, with genuine influence over strategy, structure, and long-term value creation.
