Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Location: North Manchester (Full time on site)

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000

Reporting to: Finance Business Partner

 

About the role

Sowena Group is delighted to be exclusively partnering with a growing, PE-backed manufacturing business based in North Manchester to recruit for a new Assistant Management Accountant as they continue to strengthen their finance function.

This role reports directly into the Finance Business Partner and will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making and driving financial performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records.
  • Analyse overhead expenditure.
  • Calculate monthly tariff recharges due to customers.
  • Produce and analyse monthly financial reports, identifying trends and variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Monitor costs, margins, and departmental performance.
  • Support cash flow forecasting through the provision of accurate financial information.
  • Assist in monitoring aged debtors, inventory levels, and other key working capital metrics.
  • Intercompany consolidation
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial projects as the business grows.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Part qual CIMA/ACCA/ QBE
  • 2-5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues.
  • A self-starter and forward thinking individual
