What a day that was at the Sowena Group 25/26 Cup Final!
Rain, sun, plenty of wind and a course at Alwoodley Golf Club that takes no prisoners. Tough conditions, a few great shots (mixed in with the usual chaos), and exactly the kind of test you want for a final.

A special mention to our two semi-finals (also sponsored by Andrew Dunn at CG) supporting the Inspire Youth Zone and the Michael Carrick Foundation – together raising just shy of £4,000. An incredible effort and something we’re really proud of.
We had over 120+ CFOs, MDs, PE professionals, and corporate finance leaders across the Northwest take part across the competition – including the current Manchester United manager Michael Carrick which made it even more special for us unfortunate fans on the red side of Manchester!
Massive congratulations to our first-ever Sowena Cup champions Ben Clarke (HSBC) and Gav Jones (Cooper Parry) with a ridiculous 44 points. Quality golf… although I’ll quietly admit I thought I had the same score (until I realised that was just mine and my partners handicaps combined!).
We’ll be announcing the next chapter soon, with two new semi-finals (Cheshire vs Lancashire) going into the diary for 2026/27 later this year.
