Full-time

Sowena Group are exclusively partnered with a high-growth, acquisitive SME based in Lancashire in their search for a newly created Group Financial Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious ACA-qualified accountant looking to make their first or second move into industry and take on a broad, group-level role within a business undergoing significant growth. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you’ll have real ownership of group reporting, consolidation, forecasting and financial controls, alongside exposure to acquisitions, refinancing and wider strategic projects.

As the business continues to grow through acquisition, this role will play a key part in strengthening the group’s finance function and supporting its next phase of development. There is genuine scope for progression, with the opportunity to develop into a Financial Controller position as the business expands.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of group financial reporting and consolidation across multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information while supporting the Finance Director with planning, analysis and key business decisions.

The role will combine hands-on financial accounting with commercial exposure, giving you the opportunity to develop beyond traditional reporting and become an integral part of the group’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Group Reporting & Consolidation: Lead monthly and year-end group consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations, eliminations and acquisition accounting.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Build and maintain group budgets and forecasts, investigate variances and provide clear insight into financial performance.
  • Multi-Currency Reporting: Manage foreign currency translation, FX revaluations and currency exposures across international entities.
  • Overseas Entities: Review monthly results and balance sheets for overseas subsidiaries, working closely with local finance teams to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
  • M&A & Integration: Support financial due diligence, completion accounts and the integration of newly acquired businesses as the group continues to expand.
  • Audit & Financial Controls: Lead the group audit process alongside external auditors, strengthening financial controls and improving processes across the business.
  • Treasury & Refinancing: Support refinancing activity through lender models, covenant calculations and compliance reporting.
  • Tax & Compliance: Work with external advisers on group tax planning, tax provisions and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems and processes across finance and the wider group.
  • Strategic Projects: Partner with the Finance Director on ad hoc projects, providing financial analysis and insight to support business growth and future acquisitions.

About You

  • ACA qualified, ideally with experience gained within a Big Four or mid-tier accountancy practice, followed by a move into industry.
  • Looking to make your first or second move post-qualification, with the ambition to take ownership and develop within a growing business.
  • Experience with group consolidation, multi-entity reporting and ideally multi-currency accounting.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with an understanding of FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience building financial models and working with ERP systems such as NetSuite.
  • A clear communicator who can explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders and build relationships across the wider business.
  • Highly organised, comfortable managing multiple deadlines and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Acquisition integration, due diligence or refinancing experience would be advantageous, although a strong technical foundation and willingness to learn are equally important.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary of £55,000 – £65,000 plus bonus, with flexibility for the right candidate.
  • Hybrid working, typically four days in the office and one from home, with some flexibility when required.
  • Direct reporting line to the Finance Director, with exposure to senior decision-making and group strategy.
  • A newly created position offering genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape the group finance function.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, international entities and refinancing as the business continues its growth trajectory.
  • Clear scope to progress into a Financial Controller role as the group expands.

If you’re an ambitious ACA looking for a role that offers more than traditional financial reporting, with the opportunity to make a real impact in a growing, acquisitive business, we’d love to hear from you.
